In most cases, oval pools have supports on the straight sides of the pool.  These supports or buttresses extend out 3 feet from the side of the pool. The supports are connected by steel straps that are attached beneath the pool.  During excavation, the excavator will dig out a larger area to allow leveling for these supports.

Other oval pools may have additional supports that are less apparent or not visible at all.  These are Delta buttress and Non-buttress supports.  These, like the regular buttress do protrude out from the side of the pool, but are sunken in the ground when leveled.  They too are attached beneath the pool for greater support and stability. 

Today there are sooooooooo many different types and styles of above ground pools and can be confusing and frustrating.  Every pool company says that their pools are the best on the market.  Truth is,  we find that about 50% of the above ground pools today aren't very durable and will only last about 3 years.  It took a long time for us to pick an above ground pool we liked putting up and supported.

REMEMBER,  A SAND BOTTOM ISN'T PERFECT AND WILL SHOW IMPERFECTIONS ON THE BOTTOM OF YOUR ABOVE GROUND POOL.   Look at putting in a Foam Bottom for a better finish.
